We work with hotels, restaurants and caterers that value their kitchen. That should show in their plans for the business and the people they hire.
When we meet, we discuss the kind of kitchen that suits you. Would you prefer a small restaurant team or a hotel with a larger brigade? What do you expect from the chef or owner you will be working with?
What do we discuss at the intake?
You meet with Saartje, Juri or Thomas. We ask about your experience, what you enjoy in the kitchen and why you are considering a different job.
We cover:
- Where you want to work and when you can start.
- When you are available for interviews.
- Your experience with the role and type of kitchen.
- What you enjoy about your work and what you would like to change.
- What motivates you and the three things that matter most in a new job.
- Your preferences for salary, working hours and travel distance.
You do not need to know exactly which role you want. If you are weighing up a step up or a different working environment, we can discuss that too.
How does the selection process work?
- Intake. You meet Saartje, Juri or Thomas and discuss what you are looking for.
- Introduction to the employer. We introduce you to a suitable client.
- Interview. You meet the employer to discuss the role and how you would work together.
- Reference check. A reference check is part of the selection.
- Second interview or trial shift. You get to know the venue and team better.
- Offer. If you both want to proceed, the employer makes you an offer.

Do you only look for jobs in Amsterdam?
No. NovaChef is based in Amsterdam and recruits across the Netherlands. Tell us where you would like to work and how far you can travel. The options depend on the current vacancies.
